Abstract

Baccalaureate nursing faculty members have long been faced with the daunting task of developing innovative teaching strategies that offer students the opportunity to recognize the vital role nurses play in assuring safe, high-quality patient care. High-fidelity simulation is an excellent methodology in which to demonstrate the ways in which the competencies of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses initiative are integral to bedside nursing care. This article describes how undergraduate baccalaureate nursing faculty transformed a previously used high-fidelity simulation observer record into one that is grounded in the prelicensure Quality and Safety Education for Nurses competencies.
