Abstract
Childhood obesity is a multifaceted phenomenon of increasing prevalence in Hispanic and Haitian populations, suggesting that each culture may have unique contributing factors related to the chronic condition. The purpose of this study was to describe the cultural beliefs and practices of parents from these cultures regarding issues of childhood obesity. Results from this study can serve as a beginning basis for intervention development and care decisions for nurse practitioners in the areas of concern identified by families.
