Abstract
As the nursing profession faces yet another nursing shortage, health care organizations are seeking strategies to recruit and retain talented nurses. Creating an environment that solicits input and empowers staff to implement changes is one way of achieving this goal. Shared leadership is a nursing management model that supports staff nurses in extending their influence about decisions that affect their practice, work environment, professional development, and self-fulfillment. This model promotes open relationships between staff and management.
