Abstract

The Nursing Leadership Perspectives Program (NLPP) is a professional development model created to enhance leadership skills and promote professionalism of registered nurses (RNs) at the bedside at an academic medical center in the Midwest.1 The program has been in existence since 2007, with successful completion by 125 registered nurses. Program participants are required to be staff nurses and have a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a minimum of 5 years' nursing experience.1 Objectives of the program are as follows: improve leadership skills and increase professional nursing activities; increase understanding of professional nursing, shared decision making, and interdisciplinary collaboration; and broaden the participants understanding of nursing roles and responsibilities.1
