Abstract
In this article, the coauthors of California's White Paper on Nursing Education Redesign reflect on the successes and challenges of leading statewide change for education reform. Their story tells how the academic and service nursing community in California rose above the long-standing and divisive entry-into-practice debate. Statewide collaboration has resulted in increasing and improving the state's nursing workforce. Designers used evidence-based strategies for collaboration and change to build consensus on a strategic plan for innovation and change.
