Abstract
In the fall of 2007, a group of 20 Bayhealth leaders and staff nurses attended the national Magnet™ conference in Atlanta, Georgia. At one particular presentation, representatives from a Florida Magnet hospital, Morton Plant Mease Health Care, discussed how implementation of a pay-for-skills program for registered nurses (RNs) had positively impacted the nursing culture at their organization. Specifically, they experienced considerable improvement in nurse retention and satisfaction. The positive results of their program were an inspiration to Bayhealth.
