Abstract
Nerve conduction studies support diagnosis of polyneuropathy syndromes. While classical distal nerve lesions lead to measureable changes, nerve conduction studies are yet able to yield helpful diagnostic clues also for proximal polyneuropathies, such as inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. Here detection of partial or complete conduction blocks, f-wave recording and correct analysis of a-waves should be performed. So results leading to diagnosis particularly in the early phase of the disease or with higher polyneuropathic activity can be detected.
