Abstract
Educational leadership has forged the nursing profession that exists today. This article briefly reviews the historical beginning of education with Florence Nightingale, and the types of nursing education available today. This article summarizes the leadership characteristics, skills needed, and outcomes desired of educators at the dean, department chair, faculty, and staff development educator level.
