Abstract
The EEG shows a high sensitivity for abnormalities in patients with epilepsy only after repeated or long-term recordings and the use of activation procedures. However, there are very few normal individuals whose EEG shows epileptiform discharges but who do not have epilepsy. This article depicts the typical interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) and their association to epilepsy syndromes.
