Abstract
Flash sterilization has a place in the operative suite. However, for flash sterilization to be used appropriately, effectively, and safely, suitable tools need to be developed and consistently applied. Furthermore, oversight of flash sterilization needs to be maintained through strict monitoring, comprehensive policies, and well-understood procedures. To address identified problems, the use of interdisciplinary teams is usually the best approach. In this arena of patient safety, one must continue to be vigilant and practice safely.
