Abstract
Data sets in nursing care are used to standardize, classify, and clarify care delivery. This article describes collaboration between two nursing organizations, the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), to explore complementary uses of the AORN Perioperative Nursing Data Set and the SGNA Minimum Data Set. A case study is used to demonstrate how the two data sets complement each other and can be used interchangeably.
