Abstract
In this overall view the anatomical basics of neurophysiological techniques will be demonstrated for beginners. The structure of the cerebtal cortex will be related to the position of the EEG electrodes. The susceptibility to faults from extracranial structures or diseases of the meninges will be discussed. Special EEG patterns will be derived from the cellular structure of the cortex and its diseases. The cranial nerves and the brainstem play an important role in the examination of the brainstem reflexes. Finally, the most important conduction tracts will be shown regarding their accessibility to neurophysiological examinations.
