Abstract
Biochemical reactions, which give rise to the conversion of triglycerides to carbohydrates and the conversion of carbohydrates to triglycerides, along with identification of the metabolic cells in which these processes take place are detailed. The relationship of these processes to the condition of obesity in humans is considered and it is shown that the development of obesity is a malfunction of the metabolism. Possible treatments to limit the induction of obesity are proposed and the link of obesity to relevant chemical compounds in the diet is discussed.
