Abstract
The delayed presentation of neurological manifestations and the prolonged evolution of this poisoning were linked to the particular toxicokinetic characteristics of fenthion, a highly lipid-soluble organophosphate: much of the absorbed dose first accumulates in fat from where the insecticide is subsequently released. Owing to agronomical reasons, highly toxic pesticides that have been banned in EU are still used in some developing countries and can therefore result in severe occupational poisonings.
