Abstract

This paper presents a simplified model for the dynamic elastic–plastic analysis of a multi-segmented lining that is buried in a continuous medium. The lining is composed of a number of rigid arch segments that are interconnected by elastic–plastic hinges. The surrounding medium is simulated by a visco-elastic base with coefficients that depend on the coordinates only. The recursive formulas for the segments’ angular accelerations were derived. A numerical solution was provided for both the uniform (homogeneous) and the non-uniform (non-homogeneous) base. To simulate an anisotropic medium, special formulas for the base coefficients were derived. The dependence of the proposed solution on different parameters was studied.
