Abstract
Epicutaneous tests with the European standard series including the mixture MCI/MI were performed at distance from the acute episodes. They confirmed contact sensitivity to this biocide mixture with a positive reaction at late readings. These results were relevant because both patients used it to treat water cooling circuits. An extensive use of this biocide, a well-known cutaneous allergen, to treat water cooling circuits, especially to eradicate Legionella pneumophila, should lead to an increase of skin sensitization. Primary prevention of these side effects is important. Staff who handle such products should be correctly informed about their risks and should wear protective equipment such as rubber gloves with long gauntlets and facial mask.
