Abstract

This paper presents an experimental research on high strength concrete columns subjected to compression and biaxial bending forces. The aims of the experimental program are, first, to provide experimental tests of high strength concrete columns under the loads described and, second, to contribute to the knowledge regarding the behaviour of this type of columns. The tests presented intend to put forward experimental results that will help in the validation of numerical models used to analyse slender columns subjected to compression and biaxial bending forces, as well as to fill the existing lack of experimental results subjected to this type of loading. The following parameters have been considered in this research: eccentricity, skew angle and slenderness of the test specimen, from which a total of 56 test columns resulted. The cross-sectional dimensions are 200×100 mm, the lengths of the columns are 1, 2 and 3 m, and the cubic average compression strength is 103 MPa.
