Abstract
Besides the description of the cases and the search for other cases, the initial ambition of the standardized questionnaire was to bring to light risk factors of headaches but the small number of subjects limited the study's statistical power and thus, its capacity to detect differences really existing. The study of the workplace environment confirmed the responsibility of aliphatic nitrates in the occurrence of headaches. Although the main route of absorption of nitroglycerin and nitroglycol is the dermal route, inhalation is not an unimportant route for nitroglycol, which is over 30Â times more volatile than nitroglycerin. But, it is mainly the breakdown of the ventilation system that, by allowing the accumulation of vapors in the cave, facilitated the occurrence of headaches.
