Abstract
In their environment, living organisms are frequently exposed to multiple toxic chemicals acting at the same time. This article gives an overview of the main methods available to assess risks in the case of combined exposure to several chemicals acting together. Some basic ideas and terminology are briefly recalled specifying the main concepts in use. Current tools and methods to assess risks related to mixture toxicity are then reviewed together with the prospects opened by ongoing research.
