Abstract
Several environmental and occupational causes of pulmonary alveolar lipoproteinosis have been described, including strong occupational exposure to silica dust, and exposure to cement, cellulose fibres, aluminium dust, and wood dust. Several cases of pulmonary alveolar lipoproteinosis have also been reported in patients who had been exposed to grain dust. A case control study is justified to analyse the possible link between pulmonary alveolar lipoproteinosis and occupational dust exposures.
