Abstract
By integrating the uncertainty of measurement and sampling with the objective of guaranteeing a greater accuracy of noise measurement, the new version of the NF S31-084 standard gives a considerably higher estimation of occupational noise exposure in an environment where sound levels are frequently fluctua-ting. If this mode of calculation is more protective for the employees (through regulations), it does not mean a deterioration of working conditions.
