Abstract
Different acute exposure threshold levels are available for the determination of the effects of toxic atmospheres after accidental releases of chemicals. These thresholds based on differents methodologies and developed for different purposes may be difficult to use for a non-expert. At the European level, a harmonised approach is currently in process.
