Abstract
The discovery of instruments used to explore the clinical visual field was concomitant with the access to anatomical and physiological knowledge of the eye and technical progress. In the 19th century nine different cupolas existed. These revelations then remained in oblivion and it was only in 1945Â with the discovery by Goldmann that the exploration the whole of the visual space became precise and reliable.
