Abstract
There are two categories of diabetes: type 1 which affects mainly children and teenagers and type 2 or maturity-onset diabetes. As diabetes is a chronic disease, primary care doctors play an essential role in its follow-up. They ensure that examinations are carried out at the correct time, work in partnership with other specialists and keep abreast of the different treatments.
