Abstract
This article summarizes a dissertation entitled: “La batterie de décision visuelle d'objets, test du stock structural dans les gnosies visuelles” (“The visual object decision battery (BDVO), structural stock test in visual gnosis”) defended by Régine Crété, orthoptist, during the validation of her university degree in the neuropsychopathology of school learning. It involves the standardisation, in children aged 3 to 8, of the BDVO test, focusing on visual gnosis or, more precisely, on a stage of image processing which concerns in particular orthoptists:the structural stock (or stored memory of known shapes). In the sequential model of image processing, it is situated on the level of the cognitive stage which follows the sensorial and perceptual stages explored during the orthoptic assessment. This test, quick to perform, proves to be a useful investigation tool as well as a means of transferring the data collected. The objective is to favour the coordination of therapeutic and/or palliative care and to gain a better understanding of the child, his/her refusal to look, his/her unusual behaviour, which is sometimes worrying for the family.
