Abstract
Disability representation models and stereotypes have had a lasting impact on the extreme backwardness of international human rights. Finally a binding convention, ensuring persons with disabilities the same rights as others, was adopted in 2006. The purpose of this contribution is to emphasize the importance of paradigm shift that the convention has brought. A person with disability is regarded, not as object of charity but as a subject of law, his rights and well-being are guaranteed and are legal states obligations.
