Abstract
The principle of exercise rehabilitation using a training method has been progressively developed over the last thirty years. This approach is in opposition with the older method of therapeutic rest proposed after an acute cardiac event. Sudden death and the risk caused by exertion were the dominant fears. Advocates of this method, we have encountered major resistance over the last fifteen years from the cardiac community. We wanted to demonstrate the beneficial effect of prolonged rehabilitation exercises over a period of 15 years in a group of 16 patients. None of the patients died. Their heart condition remained stable. Their functional capacity enabled them to live with no particular limitation, and without the fear of dying.
