Abstract
The forensic assessment of the genito-sexual sequelae by the medical expert may present difficulty of achieving expertise due to many facts (lack of data on the medical evidence provided, no reporting of these disorders by victims, unrecognition of the accountability of these disorders due to lack of assessment criteria, insufficient official scale in Tunisia). The aim of this study is to enhance the knowledge of providers and experts in the genito-sexual effects in the deterioration of the quality of life of SCI men after road accident. This retrospective study interested eight SCI patients, treated in surgical services after road accident, expertised. Data were collected from medical records and forensic assessment. Medical records did not contain objective data of the genito-sexual function despite the obvious damage of this function in SCI. Undeclaration of genito-sexual dysfunction by SCI (taboo) and lack of medical data explain that the medical expert can not assess the damage in its real dimensions. The official scale of Tunisia does not allow a proper assessment of the damage. Therefore, a better understanding of these disorders by providers and experts, as well as a revision of the official scale in Tunisia provide better legal redress of injury and also better support for optimal social reintegration.
