Abstract
Hyperlaxity and frail skin are two well-known symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Pain is nevertheless a common complaint, generally associated with other symptoms such as fatigue, proprioceptive disorders and gastrointestinal and urinary tract problems. Analgesics commonly used in pain centers are generally ineffective and have poorly accepted adverse effects on these less resistant patients because of their connective tissue disease. TENS and anti-inflammatory applications have little effect. A recent innovation is the use of elastic contention clothing developed in the context of burn victim care. In a recent multicentric study initiated by Thuasne, they have proven their efficacy in 94% of patients in association with standardized flexible ortheses (lumbar belt, knee pad). Pressure sore mattresses and rigid ortheses for hands and feet have also proven efficacy.
