Abstract
Based on some historical elements, we examine how the profession contributes to the rehabilitation from its origin to this day. With the new definition of profession, consistent with the evolving practice, occupational therapy responds more and more in ordinary life outside the institutions in connection with requests of autonomy and for better living in the environment family, school, work, sports or leisure, social and therefore at every stage of life, whether in an aim of prevention, education, retraining, compensation or adaptation/rehabilitation integration/reintegration.
