The wheelchair is a technical device that plays an essential part in facilitating the mobility and movement of motor-disabled people. Like any other therapeutic device, wheelchairs have main indications, contra-indications and potential side effects, which may cause serious pathologies related to the use of the wheelchair. So the multidisciplinary team of physical and rehabilitation medicine should be informed and should be aware of these various effects, especially in developing countries, in order to suggest and to find the appropriate adaptive measures. These measures require to be focused on the disabled person and their environment.
