Abstract
Until the recent changes instituted by law in 2006, the rules regulating inheritance had not changed in France since the origin of the Napoleon civil code promulgated in 1804. With more than 200Â articles, the new legislation has, among other dispositions, reformed the rules to ensure the protection of disabled children. Rehabilitation teams should be aware of these dispositions and integrate them into their care projects. Legal decisions must be made in cooperation with the appropriate professional, and with adequate knowledge of the general rules concerning inheritance and donations. The present work relates our experience with six cases to illustrate practical applications.
