Abstract
Breast cancer during pregnancy or the year following pregnancy is not frequent but this diagnosis is discussed clinically if the pregnant woman has a mass, a lymphadenopathy or a bloody discharge. Sonography is the best imaging modality to perform the diagnosis and allows percutaneous breast biopsies. Bilateral mammography with adequate abdominal shielding is necessary when the diagnosis is difficult or histologically confirmed. When breast cancer is discovered during pregnancy, genetic counselling should be done. The prognosis of women with breast cancer during pregnancy does not appear to differ from that of non-pregnant patients of the same age and stage of the disease, however diagnosis is often delayed.
