Abstract
The use of biopsy markers after percutaneous biopsy is crucial for optimal patient management. After percutaneous biopsy under stereotactic guidance, biopsy marker should be deployed in case of complete removal of the targeted lesion, if the lesion is visible in only one incidence, to distinguish multiple biopsy sites, when biopsy is performed as a targeted second look evaluation for an MRI lesion. After percutaneous biopsy under sonography, biopsy marker should be deployed if the lesion is inferior to 5Â mm, if the lesion is a complex cystic lesion, before neoadjuvant chemotherapy, in case of uncertainty about the correlation between mammography and sonography, when biopsy is performed as a targeted second look evaluation for an MRI lesion, To distinguish multiple biopsy sites, in case of complete removal of the targeted lesion after large-core vacuum-assisted biopsy. After percutaneous biopsy under MRI, biopsy marker should be always deployed.
