Abstract
Optimal ovarian monitoring of IVF-ET cycles usually combines multiple ultrasound scans and serum hormonal measurements. Precise evaluation of the antral follicle count and measurement of each follicle diameter is needed for optimal interpretation of serum estradiol and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) levels. Follicles reaching 16 to 20Â mm are considered mature enough for oocyte retrieval. Currently, the established method for evaluation of follicle diameter is based on the mean value of the two maximum orthogonal diameters using two-dimensional ultrasound. Recently, the development of 3D ultrasound scan allows a volumetric evaluation of follicles. But the Virtual Organ Computer Aided Analysis (VOCAL) software is too much time consuming and the SonoAVC is not applicable to all patients at this day. However, the SonoAVC may be in the future, the reference for the monitoring of COH.
