Abstract
Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) was initially developed in penile cancer and melanoma, then in breast cancer, and is now considered for other cancer types. Sentinel lymph node detection and targeted pathological examination could improve cancer staging and decrease the morbidity of lymph node dissection. In cervical cancer, pelvic lymphadenectomy has significant morbidity. Sentinel lymph node analysis in cervical cancer can precisely predict pelvic lymph node status and thus may decrease unnecessary pelvic lymphadenectomy.
