Abstract
Anencephaly is one of the more common anomalies of the neural heterogeneous group related to congenital defects in the closing of the neural canal, along with spinal dysraphysm and encefalocele. The majority of the neural defects are sporadic and multifactorial. In anencephaly there is an absence of a great part of the brain and cranium, leaving the rest of structures visible. A case of a 21 week fetus with a severe anomaly of the central nervous system is presented, with emphasis in the manifestations noted in the prenatal fetal MRI.
