Abstract
Inflammatory and infectious diseases during lactation are frequent but poorly known. Most often the chronologic sequence is the obliteration of a duct, mastitis and then abscess. With an appropriate treatment, the formation of an abscess can be avoided. Radiologist can confirm the diagnosis, exclude a malignant process and treat abscesses. US is the imaging modality of choice, mammography is only performed when inflammatory breast cancer is suspected.
