Abstract
Lithium–tin alloy is a potential tritium breeder/coolant for the liquid blanket of a fusion reactor. Li20Sn80 has moderate tritium diffusivity and solubility compared with other liquid breeder/coolant candidates. A comparison of the possible tritium leak rate among different liquid breeders/coolants was carried out. The results indicate that, with a proper tritium permeation reduction factor (TPRF), Li20Sn80 has a marginal possibility of meeting the 100 Ci/day tritium leakage rate criterion.
