Abstract

This paper relates to experimental and analytical work on the cryogenic tensile and damage behavior of glass fiber reinforced polymer woven laminates. Tensile tests were performed on specimens with gradual transition region at room temperature, 77, 20, and 4 K. During the tensile tests, acoustic emission monitoring was employed to characterize the damage development. A two-dimensional finite element model was also used to perform the progressive failure analysis.
