Abstract

The large amount of data produced during the long pulse operation on Tore Supra, requires increased computation power in order to reduce the post-pulse data processing stage at the end of each pulse. During the last winter shutdown of Tore Supra (2004–2005), the old system, consisting of a dedicated machines and in-house developed software, has been replaced by software interfaced with a batch manager system: PBS Pro. We are now studying a quasi real-time data processing system with the idea that the applications are developed by physicists, and instead of using standard message passing libraries, that would need a substantial rewrite of these applications, it is more efficient to adapt existing programs to real-time data reading and computing.
