Abstract
Magnetic resonance defecography is an effective method of evaluating pelvic floor weakness and anorectal dysfunction. With no ionizing radiation, less than 30 minutes of imaging, and complete anatomic and functional detail, magnetic resonance has largely supplanted other imaging modalities. This contribution reviews the pertinent pelvic anatomy, image acquisition, and image interpretation and briefly discusses the most common pathology.
