Abstract
Patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery range from the young and fit to the frail elderly. A proper and goal-directed preoperative assessment is necessary, in particular for geriatric hip fracture populations, to identify and optimize co-morbidities, develop an individualized perioperative care plan and minimize postoperative complications.
