Abstract
												Trauma remains one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the UK, is the primary cause of mortality in the first four decades of life and has a significant impact on the economy of the nation. Despite this, many reports have detailed suboptimal care of these patients in the UK.This article will review these reports, discuss the changes occurring in the organization of the care of major trauma and describe the anaesthetic management of this important group of patients.
