Abstract
Neuroanaesthesia is an expanding speciality that provides a unique set of challenges, in which anaesthetists' knowledge and techniques may directly influence patient outcome. A good understanding of neurophysiology and the pharmacological factors that influence it is essential to the neuroanaesthetist. As neurosurgery evolves, it provides neuroanaesthetists with new challenges including awake craniotomies, stereotactic neurosurgery and intraoperative MRI.
