Abstract
The transfusion of blood products in children exposes them to the risk of developing an adverse reaction. The surest way to avoid these risks is to avoid the use of blood products whenever possible. Once the decision to transfuse has been made, strict adherence to safety protocols is essential. Principles of transfusion are outlined in this article.
