Abstract
Due to advances within medicine and public health, the population is ageing. It is more common to encounter older patients with a wide variety of health problems. In vascular surgery this is especially so due to the high incidence of comorbidities associated with this patient group. In addition, vascular surgery itself is usually a major intervention. Successful postoperative care of these patients is therefore challenging and requires knowledge of the procedure, the common complications and effective analgesia.
