Abstract
Most newborn babies delivered within a labour ward do not require resuscitation or stabilization. The small proportion who do require resuscitation are managed by trained and experienced healthcare providers. Some babies are born outside the labour ward and these newborns may require help from less experienced individuals. Good-quality early assessment and intervention is vital to ensure the best outcome. This article provides a brief overview of resuscitation of the newborn.
