Abstract
A lower limb surgery can threaten or compromise the safety of patient walking. An optimized management needs a multimodal analgesia approach but it is only one part of the postoperative recovery program. The local anesthetics techniques must be the first choice. The local infiltration analgesia by its efficiency for initial postoperative period allows to walk earlier. The locoregional analgesia, on the other hand, gives more repercussions on the motor function and requires some precautions to limit the risks of fall during walking. It is essential to identify the patients with high risk of fall. The preventive measures pass by the information of the health care workers and by that of the patient and his close relatives. The major role of the physiotherapy team has to coordinate the patient management and to optimize the walking rehabilitation.
