Abstract
Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a life-threatening, typically drug-induced, mucocutaneous disease. TEN has a high mortality rate, making early diagnosis and treatment of paramount importance. We present the case of a 42-year-old woman who was transferred to the burn unit for presumed TEN. More than ninety-five percent of epidermal detachment was observed and the loss of her teeth - due to a periodontal disease - made the clinical picture even uncommon. She was successfully discharged from burn unit. The causative agent cannot be identified.
